Chapter 16 – Linked Data , Ontologies , and DBpedia

چکیده
The Semantic Web is a collaborative movement which promotes common data formats on the World Wide Web and aims to convert the currently unstructured and semi-structured documents on the web into a “web of data” by encouraging the inclusion of semantic content (metadata) in web pages. [7] Not only does the Semantic Web need access to data, but relationships among data should be made available, too. This collection of interrelated datasets on the web is referred to as Linked Data, and the relationships among the data are defined using vocabularies, or ontologies. [11] [13] Just as relational databases or XML need specific query languages, the Web of Data needs its own specific query language and facilities. This is provided by the SPARQL query language and the accompanying protocols. [14] To improve the quality of data integration on the web, inferences are used to automatically analyze the content of data and discover new relationships. [12]

Materializing the editing history of Wikipedia as linked Data in DBpedia
We describe a DBpedia extractor materializing the editing history of Wikipedia pages as linked data to support queries and indicators on the history. The different instances of the DBpedia platform typically extract RDF from Wikipedia using up to 16 extractors. The extraction focuses on structured content including infoboxes, categories, links, etc. As an example, the French chapter, of which w...
متن کاملA lemon lexicon for DBpedia
As the body of knowledge available as linked data grows, so does the need to provide methods that make this knowledge accessible for humans. Such methods usually require knowledge about how the vocabulary elements used in the available ontologies and datasets are verbalized in natural language. This has lead to much interest in the development of models and frameworks for publishing ontology le...
متن کاملA Metadata Focused Crawler for Linked Data
The Linked Data best practices recommend publishers of triplesets to use well-known ontologies in the triplication process and to link their triplesets with other triplesets. However, despite the fact that extensive lists of open ontologies and triplesets are available, most publishers typically do not adopt those ontologies and link their triplesets only with popular ones, such as DBpedia and ...
متن کاملDetecting errors in linked data using ontology learning and outlier detection
Linked Data is one of the most successful implementations of the Semantic Web idea. This is demonstrated by the large amount of data available in repositories constituting the Linked Open Data cloud and being linked to each other. Many of these datasets are not created manually but are extracted automatically from existing datasets. Thus, extraction errors, which a human would easily recognize,...
متن کاملThe German DBpedia: A Sense Repository for Linking Entities
The modeling of lexico-semantic resources by means of ontologies is an established practice. Similarly, general-purpose knowledge bases are available, e.g. DBpedia, the nucleus for the Web of Data. In this section, we provide a brief introduction to DBpedia and describe recent internationalization efforts (including the creation of a German version) around it. With DBpedia serving as an entity ...
